Eden Hazard, captain of the Belgian national Association football club and the nation’s star player, walked away from international play. The 31-year-old retired after Belgium’s 2022 FIFA World Cup game against Croatia ended in a draw.
Hazard had a 14-year career with Belgium. He had a total of 33 goals during his career on the team. He played in all his World Cup games, but did not score once.
Hazard made his debut with Belgium in 2008, when he was 17 years old. He currently plays with Real Madrid, after leaving the Belgium team.
Hazard has one FIFA Champions League title and two LaLiga titles while playing as a forward with Real Madrid. While playing with Real Madrid, Hazard suffered many injuries.
Hazard showed poor performance during his 126 appearances in national play with the Belgian team, but still played in two of Belgium’s three group stage fixtures in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Hazard thanked his fans with an Instagram post; the Belgian team replied and thanked Hazard for his time with them.
