Steps on how to load a dump truck include: maneuver the vehicle on a level surface, inspect both the dump gate and the bed, align the loader with the bucket parallel to the ground’s angle, initiate operation of the bucket after driving the loader forward, load the bucket with materials, elevate the bucket, raise the bucket while driving the dump truck, begin putting the materials into the center of the bed correctly, and count the volume of bucket scoops made.
With the help of dump trucks, carrying and dumping heavy loads of materials is made easier. A hydraulic loader tractor with a bucket is used to load contents into a dump truck. Hydraulic components in the tractor called wet kits aid it in performing the tractor’s duties. In order to load a dump truck correctly, make sure you follow these steps:
Station the truck on level ground
The dump truck must be stationed on even ground. Once you find a suitable location, you should put the parking brakes on.
Examine the bed as well as the dump gate
Remember to check the bed of the dump truck to assure it has been completely lowered after parking. The chain and locks of the dump gate should also be double checked to make sure that they are locked and fastened securely.
Drive the loader in which the bucket must be aligned to the ground’s angle
The loader has to be driven to the area where the materials to be loaded are found. The loader should be positioned in a way that the bucket is at a parallel angle to the ground.
Operate the bucket after driving the loader forward
Advance the loader towards the materials after lowering the bucket to the ground. Step on the gas so that the loader will be able to dig into the debris you are about to load.
Load the bucket with materials
Pull the lever used to move the open part up so you can easily fill the bucket with your loading materials. Keep pulling until the bucket has been filled with the debris.
Lift the bucket once filled with materials
After the bucket is filled with material, it needs to be lifted up. Do this by using the bucket-lifting lever. The bucket should be lifted a good 3 feet distance off the ground.
Raise the bucket while driving the dump truck
The loader should then be driven towards the dump truck. Position the bucket relative to the center of the dump truck’s bed. Start raising the bucket while driving towards the dump truck. Slow down and stop before reaching the side of the dump truck. The bucket has to be lifted high above the wall of the dump truck bed.
Begin putting the materials into the center of the bed correctly
Once the bucket is above the center line, stop the advancing loader from rolling forward. Slowly begin to dump the materials into the bed of the truck. Driving forward and backward will ensure you that the material is properly dumped at the center of the bed. Not until the bed is filled with the material, do this step repeatedly.
Track how many bucket scoops are made
It is important to keep a record of the number of bucket scoops made. You should also keep track of the weight of the dump truck’s axles to make sure that they do not exceed the appropriate axle weight limit. Monitor the vehicle’s gross weight in the same way.
Proper loading of a dump truck is important to safely transport and dump the contents of the dump truck.
